SAVANNAH, GEORGIAHONEY ROASTED COFFEE

Honey (as proven by Sasha King’s honey cortado) can make the perfect condiment to coffee. Sweet, nutty, floral — depending on the honey one picks, it can add interesting notes to the dynamic flavors of any given coffee. In Savannah, the Savannah Bee Co. — purveyors of raw honey — went a step further: honey roasted coffee. The freshly roasted coffee is rolled in honey while still warm, leading to a beautiful melding of flavors; instead of creating a sweet, syrupy concoction, the honey comes through subtly, as an after-note rather than an overpowering sweetener. In fact, the honey’s nutty flavor is more prevalent than any sweetness.

The coffee comes from Savannah locals, Ogeechee River Coffee Co.
